Search Intent Explained for People Who Hate Buzzwords

If you have worked in SEO or marketing for more than five minutes, you have been told to “optimize for search intent.” Sometimes a funnel. Often a list of four intent types that everyone memorizes and then promptly ignores in practice. The problem is that it is explained like a theory instead of a decision making tool. It usually comes with a diagram. The problem is not that search intent is complicated. So let’s strip out the buzzwords and talk about what search intent actually means when you are responsible for traffic, conversions, or revenue.
